The Spectre seen in this story is not to be confused with the ghostly JSA member who appeared in More Fun Comics.

Synopsis:
A series of crimes committed by a man who can walk through walls draws the attention of Johnny Quick. The criminal calls himself the Spectre and uses a magic ring and formula that allows him to become intangible and pass through walls.

Johnny tries several times to apprehend the crook, but each time the Spectre escapes through a nearby wall. Tubby Watts catches the events on camera. When the newsreel is examined, Johnny deduces that the crooks never had the ability to walk through walls. The ring was used to hypnotize those around him and trick them into thinking he went through the wall. Johnny then uses a mirror, which causes the crook to hypnotize himself. Johnny then apprehends the Spectre and removes the trick ring.
