Comments:
This story contains two flashbacks featuring Clark Kent before he became Superboy.

Flashback 1: (page 11, panel 1) Clark (age 7) finds a needle in a haystack.

Flashback 2: (page 11, panel 7) Clark (age 8) carries a stack of heavy boxes.

Both flashbacks occur between scene 7 in the third story of More Fun Comics #101 (page 5, panel 4) and scene 4 in the second story of Superman #173.

Synopsis:
Reporter Pete Bates buys the diary of late cartoonist Rod Rudley author of "Strange But True". The diary contains evidence that Clark Kent is Superboy. Bates goes to Smallville to prove his findings. Using a variety of tricks, Superboy is able to protect his secret and prevent Bates from discovering the truth. Bates confesses to Clark that he got the idea from the diary, so Clark comes up with explanations for several childhood feats that Rudley had seen.
