History:
Born in the seventh hour of the seventh day of the seventh month, in the seventh circle of the moon Lahseen, in the year 1917, Johnny Thunder was destined to inherit great power as savior of Bahdnisia, a small Asian country steeped in superstition. Spirited away to Bahdnisia as an infant, the Bronx-born Johnny was clad in a golden belt – the Eternal Zone of the Zodiac – while the High Priest of Aissor, spiritual leader of the Bahdnisians, uttered the mystic words "Cei-U" seven times. The spell thus invoked, Johnny would gain the power to rule the world at age seven. War with neighboring Agolea forestalled the Bahdnisian prophecy, and a fleeing Johnny – Zodiac Belt in tow – found himself homeward bound. He was eventually reunited with his true family just shy of his seventh birthday. Years later, a 23-year-old Johnny would learn that his "lucky belt" did indeed give him great power: the ability to command the genie-like "Thunderbolt" when he uttered the words "Cei-U". Using the magical Thunderbolt (in reality, a 5th-Dimensional sprite named "Yz") to tip any odds in his favor, Johnny went from heavyweight champ to rodeo rider to fledgling hero. Johnny attended the first official meeting of the Justice Society of America as team "mascot". He later served as an active JSA member before dividing his (and the Thunderbolt's) wartime duties between the All-Star Squadron and enlistment in the U.S. Navy.
