History:
Little is known of the early life of the private eye named Jonny Double. Originally a plainclothes detective on the San Francisco police force, Double left the force under as-yet-unexplained circumstances to open his own detective agency. Unable to afford anything better, Double took offices on the Embarcadero, the San Francisco waterfront, from which he continues to operate today.

In his time, Jonny Double has been involved in cases as mundane as simple divorce proceedings and as exotic as a confrontation with the underworld mastermind called Dr. Tzin-Tzin, whom Jonny defeated with the help of Supergirl.

Jonny includes among his friends and confidantes such diverse types as Lt. Frank Branigan, his former superior officer on the S.F.P.D., Crystal Cross, a local waitress who is secretly in love with Jonny, and Fish-Eye, a poolshark with an open ear for information.

Always broke but always looking on the bright side, Jonny Double remains a downbeat Don Quixote in a society that frowns on windmills, searching for that one last dragon to slay, a once-white knight in rusty armor, the poor man's Peter Pan.

Powers:
An average athlete and hand-to-hand combatant, Jonny Double is nonetheless a persistent adversary, often relying more on sheer tenacity than skill to defeat his foes. He is a slightly better than average marksman who still retains most of the techniques gained from his police training.

Jonny drives a beat-up '57 Thunderbird with a wedge-head 427 engine under the hood. His preferred weapon is a .38 Magnum that he generally wears in a snap-draw shoulder holster under his right arm.
