History:
Rose Forrest is the daughter of Detective Sergeant Phil Forrest of the Metropolis police. Sergeant Forrest and his young partner, Detective Daniel Stone, were hunting down the 100, a powerful Metropolis-based criminal organization. One night Sergeant Forrest and Stone engaged in a gun battle with criminals in the employ of the 100. Stone was slightly wounded, enough to put him out of action temporarily. Sergeant Forrest pursued the fleeing gunmen's car in his own. The chase ended on a pier at the waterfront, where Forrest deliberately rammed his car into the criminals' car. But the 100 had given the gunmen a contract to kill Forrest, and they dumped him and his car at the bottom of the river.

Hours later Stone drove Rose to the pier, arriving just as the car holding her father's corpse was raised from the river. Terribly distraught, Rose was hospitalized. She developed a dual personality as a result of her obsession with avenging her father's death. Incapable of violent action as Rose, while asleep she would sleepwalk in her new, vengeful personality.

Rose continued to live in her father's brownstone. Sleepwalking, she went through a secret door that she had discovered as a child and entered an abandoned costume shop. There she found a costume and weapons created years before by costumer Albert Talbot as part of his aborted scheme to turn a woman he knew into a costumed criminal. Donning an auburn wig and taking the costume and weapons, Rose became the Thorn, whose primary motivation was to avenge her father's death by battling the 100.

The Thorn often clashed with the 100, but later dropped out of sight for a time. She recently reappeared to battle the 1000, the new technologically advanced version of the 100. Currently the Thorn wears a knee brace due to an injury that is not debilitating and may be temporary.

Rose Forrest has become a creative director at McClellan & Johnson, an advertising agency that works with the new super-hero Booster Gold. It is not known what happened to her close relationship with Danny Stone. To this day Rose does not know she is the Thorn; nor does the Thorn know she is Rose Forrest.

Rose Forrest bears no relationship to Rose Canton, the original Thorn.

Powers:
The Thorn has no super-powers but is an extraordinary athlete and hand-to-hand combatant.

The Thorn carries thorn-shaped weapons in her belt, including some that explode, some that release smoke, and others that produce temporarily blinding bursts of light.
