Synopsis:
John wakes up on a Sunday in an unusual good mood. He goes for a walk and comes across Martin Peters, a former friend who swindled him in the past. John forgives Martin, who now uses the name Patrick McDonell. They go to lunch with Patrick's girlfriend Elise. To ease his guilt, Patrick offers to let John stay at a new eco-friendly housing development.

John then feels some indigestion from lunch and stops at a public restroom. When he exits, the world around him seems to shift. Written and spoken words are scrambled, and people are unfriendly to him on the street. John follows a line of people through a doorway. He meets a janitor who was in the restroom. He steps through a portal which leads him to a bar. John drinks a gin and tonic and reflects on a strange day.
