Comments:
This story introduces the post-Crisis Mister Miracle who is considered to be entirely independent from his Earth-1 counterpart.

Synopsis:
Scott Free wishes to resume his career as an escape artist, but his wife Barda does not want him to risk his life. Darkseid decides to target him and sends Kalibak to attack. Scott and Barda defeat Kalibak, but their home is destroyed in the process. To pay for repairs Scott and Barda join the Doodah Bros. circus.

Mister Miracle and Barda soon make the circus a success. Darkseid then recruits Funky Flashman to help destroy Scott. Flashman tricks Mister Miracle into signing a contract to escape an impossible trap. Barda is kidnapped by Granny Goodness and used as bait to force Mister Miracle to enter the trap. Despite the many dangers, Mister Miracle prevails, rescues Barda, and upsets Darkseid's plans. He then leaves the circus with enough money to fix his house.
