This story is continued from New Gods #4.

This story is told in two parts. The first part features Orion's battle with Mantis and the nuclear missiles. It is followed by an 8-page interlude.

Synopsis:
After DeSaad launches several nuclear missiles which target major cities, Lightray tries to stop them, but he is shot down. Orion kills Mantis, then goes after the missiles. With Lightray's help Orion reaches the missiles. He opens a boom tube and sends them to the home of the bugs who helped Mantis. In so doing, the bugs are killed. Forager mourns the loss of her people and blames Orion for their deaths.

Lightray returns to New Genesis and meets with Highfather who fears that Orion's hatred is making him more and more like his father.
