Aquaman’s origin is retold in this story. Additional details concerning Atlanna’s past are revealed.

Aquaman visits Atlantis for the first time. He and Aqualad are proclaimed ambassadors to the outside world.

Synopsis:
After rescuing a damaged freighter, Aquaman returns to the Aquacave. A lantern fish summons him to Atlantis.

Atlantis was the home of Aquaman’s mother, Atlanna. His mother was exiled for trying to visit the surface. She met Tom Curry and fell in love. Arthur was born and possessed aquatic powers. He and his father learned about the existance of Atlantis on his mother’s deathbed. Arthur was trained by his father and became Aquaman.

While scouting the area around Atlantis, Aquaman is captured by some creatures. The creatures have enslaved the Atlantean population and are forcing them to build a strange weapon. Aquaman learns that the creatures arrived a short time ago through a dimensional portal. He also learns that they plan to conquer the surface.

Aquaman summons Aqualad to help free him. The boy is successful, but the creatures have already left to attack the surface. The alien weapons are more powerful than Aquaman’s fish friends, but he is able to destroy the weapon by ordering sea gulls to drop bombs on it.

With the weapon destroyed, the creatures return to Atlantis to force the people to build another weapon. Aquaman captures them and sends them back to their dimension. The Atlantean’s reward Aquaman and proclaim him an ambassador to the outside world.
