Synopsis:
Gambler Ace Chance is killed by thugs for not paying his gambling debts. Jim Corrigan comes to the man's aid, but not before Chance's spirit rises from his body. The Spectre tries to save Chance, pulling the body back to Earth. However, Chance's spirit takes possession of Corrigan rather than returning to his own body.

With Chance's spirit in control, Corrigan begins to attract evil energies. Spectre is unable to reenter Corrigan's body, so he must gather good energy in order to confront Chance's spirit. The two spirits then battle upon the astral plane. The Spectre forces Chance to expend his evil energies, then attempts to force him back inside his rightful body. Chance tries one last scheme by casting an illusion to make the Spectre believe Corrigan's body is Chance's. The strategy fails. Spectre sees through the illusion and puts the spirit in the correct body, permanently removing all supernatural powers that Chance possessed.
