Synopsis:
Arak survives a storm at sea and washes up on the shore near an old castle. He meets Corinna, the daughter of the castle's Lord Hessa. Corinna is protected by several mute knights who knock Arak unconscious after he displeases their mistress.

Arak is brought before Lord Hessa who has a demon hand. Arak tells the tale of how he can to Europe and was in service to the vikings. Hessa accuses him of being a spy for Carolus Magnus and has Arak placed in the dungeons. When the indian warrior tries to fight back, the knights stop him. He learns that these knights are actually empty suits of armor animated by magic.

In the dungeon, Arak meets Malagigi a sorcerer who serves Carolus Magnus. He tries to pass along a warning, but the mage is overcome with a fit of coughing. Corinna then comes for Arak and spins him a tale of her grandmother who made a deal with a demon. The spawn of this union was Lord Hessa.

Corinna guides Arak to the edge of the forest. Lord Hessa and his knights try to prevent their escape. Arak is able to defeat the knights by breaking their contact with the ground. He then learns that Corinna is not Hessa's daughter, but actually she is his mother, the woman who made the dark pact with the demon. She uses Arak to help her leave. Once out of the area of Hessa's power, Corinna begins to rapidly age. Only by renewing her deal with the demon can she remain youthful and alive. She does so willingly.

Arak and Malagigi, who escaped the dungeons during the conflict, then leave together. The wizard offers to introduce Arak to Carolus Magnus.
