This story is continued from Arak, Son of Thunder #38 and continues in part in Arak, Son of Thunder #40.

Synopsis:
Alsind has escaped from the laboratory cell in the palace in Baghdad. He finds Satyricus in a beastiary and helps to free him. The other creatures in the beastiary have a hatred of Barmak, the caliph's vizier for their imprisonment. They join Alsind.

Meanwhile Malagigi attempts to secure the release of the others by talking with Barmak. The vizier denies knowledge of the other captives. The wizard finds Arak's otomahuk which proves Barmak is lying. He then disappears before the guards can capture him. Malagigi then tracks down the caliph who is with his harem when the beasts led by Alsind attack.

Malagigi summons Arak and Valda to protect the caliph from the beasts. Arak and Valda kill all but the basilisk. Sharizad then convinces her cousin to stand down his attack. Barmak then tries to kill Alsind before the basilisk kills him and flies away.
