Synopsis:
An earthquake at sea releases a red wave of heat and fire. The red wave reaches the shore. Firefighters are unable to extinguish the blaze which destroys everything in its path. The government calls in a special group of troubleshooters known as Task Force X, the Suicide Squad.

Led by U.S. Air Force Col. Rick Flag, the Suicide Squad flies over the red wave seeking a way to put out the fire. Standard foam dropped from bombs proves ineffective. Dr. Hugh Evans and Jess Bright, the team's scientists, determine a way to drop the temperature to near absolute zero and freeze the wave. Their plan works and the red wave is halted.

Inside the frozen center of the wave is a mysterious shape. Before scientists can fully analyze it, the shape emerges from the ice, revealing itself to be a mutant creature which had laid dormant until recent events released it. The beast now has the ability to flashfreeze anything it touches.

Task Force X returns to battle the creature. Their initial efforts fail, until they determine a way to raise the temperature and melt the creature. The strategy removes the freezing power of the creature, but now it is able to pull chlorophyll from plants. The absorbtion causes all plant life nearby to be instantly killed.

Unable to determine a way to kill the creature, Col. Flag proposes taking it into space. The team lures to creature to a space rocket. They blast off with the creature clutching the outer hull. Once in solar orbit, the creature releases its hold on the rocket. Task Force X then begins their journey home.
