Synopsis:
The story opens as Superman saves a group of miners from a collapsed mine. Sensing a greater problem, he investigates charges of unsafe conditions as Clark Kent. Mine owner Thornton Blakely insists that the workers caused the problems and his mines are safe. During the night, dressed as a miner, Superman steals into a party Blakely is throwing. As a lark, Blakely decides to move the party into the mine, where Superman surreptitiously causes a cave-in. When Blakely tries to use the safety devices installed for such occurrences, he discovers that they don’t work. After the trapped partygoers all collapse, Superman clears the way to safety. Now convinced, Blakely declares that his mine will be the safest in the country, and his workers the best treated.
