Synopsis:
Former movie writer Cyril Thwaite joins the Commandos. During his first combat mission, Private Thwaite accidentally shoots a man intended to be placed as a spy in the Nazi ranks. Embarrassed by his mistake Thwaite hides and is left behind when the Commandos pull out.

The following day the Commandos stage another attack. Without their inside man, they expect heavy losses from their prepared foes. However, when the attack proceeds, resistance is surprisingly light. They discover that Thwaite has impersonated a Nazi general and causes chaos among the German troops. Through a series of mishaps, Thwaite single-handedly takes out the entire enemy unit. Thwaite is hailed as a hero, but the Commandos are glad that he is sent home to a desk job.
