Synopsis:
While on assignment in a backwoods area of the country, Clark Kent rescues a girl from a falling tree limb. In doing so, he carrys the girl over a rock which by custom means the two are betrothed to be married. When Clark leaves town, the girl's two brothers track him down and force him to return at gunpoint. Clark learns more about the custom and is soon attacked by Jed Summers, the girl's boyfriend. Clark is caught in the middle between Jed and Marybelle's brothers.

While Clark decides what to do, Marybelle takes a walk with Jed. As Superman, Clark arranges events so that Jed also carries Marybelle over the marriage rock. The backwoods town decides to let Marybelle choose who she wants to marry, so she picks Jed. Clark is then allowed to leave town alive.
