Robby Reed becomes Giantboy, Cometeer, and the Mole in this story.
Synopsis:
While racing soap-box cars near the Armour Chemical Plant, Robby Reed and his friends witness a mechanical machine attack the plant. Collaterral damage causes a landslide which in turn causes Robby to fall into a hidden cavern. Inside the cave, Robby discovers a peculiar dial with an alien inscription. Robby takes the dial back to his lab to decipher it.
After hours of work Robby deciphers the inscription which tells him to dial the letters which correspond to H-E-R-O. Robby follows the directions and is transformed by the dial into a superhero called Giantboy. As Giantboy, Robby uses his powers to save a jetliner, then to stop another attack by the mechanical marauder against the Marlboro Chemical Plant.
Robby returns home and dials O-R-E-H to return to his Robby Reed identity. He decides to keep the H-dial and powers secret. When he hears about another fantastic machine terrorizing the local dam, Robby dials again. This time he becomes the Cometeer, a super-hero with different powers. As the Cometeer, Robby is able to save the dam, but he is unable to stop the criminal machine.
Robby tries to the dial again and becomes the Mole. Using his new ability to dig underground, Robby follows the machine back to the criminal hide-out. There he learns that the owner of the Armour Chemical Plant hired the criminal organization Thunderbolt to destroy his competitor, Marlboro. As the Mole, Robby breaks up the gang and captures Armour. However, the leader of Thunderbolt, Mr. Thunder, escapes.
