Comments:
Jimmy becomes Elastic Lad for the first time in this story. He next gains his stretching powers in the third story of Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #37.
Synopsis:
Superman brings and old chest back from outer space. Jimmy opens the chest and finds a bottle of green glowing liquid. Believing it to be Kryptonite, Jimmy tries to dispose of the bottle, but he spills the fluid on himself. Later, Jimmy gains incredible stretching abilities, and his body becomes rubber-like.
He joins a freak-show and searches for an antidote. A hood, Silky Smith, spots Jimmy and disguises himself as Professor Bolton. As Bolton, Smith claims to have an antidote for Jimmy back at his lab. On the way, Smith tricks Jimmy into helping his criminal gang. Superman stops them, but Smith uses Kryptonite against him. Jimmy rescues Superman from the Kryptonite and discovers that the exposure to the mineral has removed his stretching powers.
