Synopsis:
Tubby Watts gets a new job as a food critic, so Johnny advertises for a replacement. Johnny hires Len Shutterly as his assistant and together they film Tubby's first assignment. During the filming the restaurant catches fire. Johnny Quick puts it out, then learns that several wealthy men in the restaurant were robbed the same evening.

The accidents and robberies repeat themselves the following evening. Johnny's film is fogged, and his assistant has a lead film case, leading Johnny to suspect Shutterly of using x-ray film. Johnny sets a trap for Shutterly and his gang. He captures them and exposes his assistant's method of using x-ray's to film the keys of the wealthy men. Tubby then returns to become Johnny's assistant.
