Synopsis:
Clark Kent wins a contest to become the assistant to artist Will Ferris, the creator of the Centuryman comic strip. Before Clark can begin, Ferris is kidnapped by Waxey Coombs. Coombs wants Ferris to encode a secret message in his strip to a gang boss in prison. Superboy is forced to help, or the crook will kill Ferris.

Superboy creates several props for Ferris to use as reference. Once the strip is complete, Waxey sends it to the printer. Superboy then tricks the crook with more props to make him think Centuryman is real. Waxey surrenders, and the strip is never published since it was colored directly on the black and white artwork instead of separately.
