A boy from Mars gains super powers when exposed to the radiation of a passing asteroid. The boy uses his powers to become a super-hero known as Marsboy.

When Mars faces impending doom, Marsboy comes to Earth to steal the Sphinx. Superboy stops him, so Marsboy adopts his own secret identity in order to learn a way to defeat his rival. Marsboy soon discovers that Superboy is really Clark Kent and leads him into a trap.

When Superboy is indisposed, Marsboy once again tries to steal the Sphinx. Superboy escapes the trap and stops Marsboy again. Marsboy then explains that a formula inside the Sphinx holds a secret that can save his world. Using his x-ray vision, Superboy finds the formula and gives it to Marsboy. Marsboy returns home with the formula having become friends with his former rival, the Boy of Steel.
