Synopsis:
Superboy helps out the people of Smallville by performing odd jobs for them. James Girton suggests forming a committee to decide which tasks Superboy should perform to prevent him from doing needless tasks. The first task the committee recommends to him is to divert a river through the local park. Superboy begins the project, then delays it based on something he finds in the river bed.

Superboy then carries out other tasks for the townspeople. He realizes that most of the tasks are things the people should be doing for themselves, so he arranges the tasks to teach the people a lesson.

When a reporter discovers that there is gold in the river, they wonder why Superboy hid the information from them. He explains that the gold was placed there in order to sell worthless land to gold crazy people. He exposes Girton as the man behind the fraud.

Superboy then disbands the suggestion committee. The people of Smallville learn to handle ordinary tasks on their own, leaving the Boy of Steel free for emergencies.
