Comments:
This story is from the "Challenger Casebook" and is an untold story. Since the Challengers are in their old purple uniforms it must take place prior to the second story of Challengers of the Unknown #43.

Synopsis:
The Challengers investigate a valley where all vegetation has died. They find a castle and are attacked by a bull made of gas. Ace is overcome by another gas which causes him to turn on his teammates. The Gas Master, a crook responsible for the strange gases then uses Ace to fight the other Challengers. Ace finally breaks free when he breathes in the compressed air in Prof's scuba gear. Ace and the other Challengers then defeat the Gas Master.
