Synopsis:
Old documents are uncovered in Smallville proving that the town is not part of the United States and is really its own kingdom. Paperwork is filed, so that the kingdom can be officially annexed, but in the meantime Smallville is required to have a king. Documents show Richard Bayne should be king, but he abdicates in favor of Superboy. The Boy of Steel accepts in order to maintain law for the week, until the paperwork can be processed.

Superboy as king is required to follow a charter. He must wear a crown and carry out several tasks. In the meantime, Bayne and his men committ crimes. They use a transmitter in the crown to track Superboy's movements. The Boy of Steel eventually uncovers the plot and captures them. After the week is over, Smallville becomes an offical part of the USA, and Superboy abdicates the throne.
