Superman’s romance with Lori Lemaris from the flashback in the third story of Superman #129 is recapped in this story.

Synopsis:
Clark Kent learns that a mermaid has been sighted by some fishermen. He searches for her in hopes that it is his lost love, Lori Lemaris. As Superman, he finds Lori and renews their romance. He decides to leave the surface world and return to Atlantis with Lori as his bride.

Unfortunately, Lori is injured by an angry fisherman. Her life is saved, but she remains paralyzed. Superman searches the galaxy for a cure. On a distant world, he locates a merman doctor who can help. He returns him to Earth where the merman restores Lori’s mobility. However, Superman is heartbroken when he learns that Lori and the alien merman have fallen in love. He returns to the surface, depressed at having lost Lori again.
