Jimmy Olsen finds a super-powered ape in Africa and calls Superman. The Man of Steel speculates that the ape was sent into space from Krypton as a test. The ape causes mischief with his powers forcing Superman to pursue him, while Jimmy searches for Kryptonite.

While searching, Jimmy is captured by an African tribe. He calls Superman who is weakened by the tribes spearhead which are made of Kryptonite. The super-ape, named King Krypton, follows Superman and is weakened as well.

The two super-powered beings are forced to fight one another for their freedom. Superman nearly loses, but the gorilla sacrifices itself to save Superman. It then changes to human form and explains that he is a devolved Kryptonian scientist. Finally, King Krypton dies of Kryptonite poisoning.
