Synopsis:
J'onn infiltrates a French cell of the Vulture organization disguised as Andre Rennay. Vulture unveils a new weapon called a captive-ray which is even capable of defeating J'onn. Before he can act against Vulture, J'onn witnesses a renegade from Mercury land on Earth. The renegade possesses a disintegration weapon of his own.

The Martian Manhunter assumes his role as Marco Xavier and informs Vulture about the alien, hoping the two will defeat one another. Instead Vulture forms an alliance with the renegade, and J'onn is trapped by the captive-ray.

Fortunately he is able to fool the crooks by turning invisible. After they mistakenly release him, J'onn is able to capture the members of Vulture and send the man from Mercury back home. Both the weapons are destroyed.
