Wonder Woman is exhausted from performing dozens of rescues. She prepares to sleep it off, when another emergency call comes in. She returns to Paradise Island to stop some invading flame creatures. On the way she rescues Mer-Man from a polar bear. After handling those emergencies and more, Wonder Woman returns home.
Wonder Woman is discouraged because people do not treat her as a human. They consider her a fighting machine. Finally, she gives up and walks past two emergencies, leaving them for the fire and police departments.
Wonder Woman then meets a young blind girl, Mary Jane. Wonder Woman hides her true identity from Mary Jane, and they become friends. Suddenly, a lightning storm breaks out, threatening them with bolts of lightning. Wonder Woman protects herself and Mary Jane. The lightning restores Mary Jane's sight. After learning her friend is Wonder Woman, Mary Jane still treats her as a human, restoring Wonder Woman's faith in humanity.
