Synopsis:
After her lasso is stolen, Wonder Woman turns to the police and Hermes to help her find it. When neither resource produces results, Wonder Woman goes to Europe to confront Barbara Minerva, the woman she believes is responsible for the theft of the lasso. Instead of going to Minerva directly, she stops in Paris to attend the first meeting of Justice League Europe.

Once she reaches Minerva's home in England, she meets Chuma. While waiting for his mistress to arrive, Chuma paralyzes Diana uses poison tea. As she lays slowly dying, Wonder Woman hears Chuma tells her the origin of the Cheetah.

Chuma explains that Minerva led an expedition into the jungles of Africa in search of the Temple of Urzkartaga. However, the tribal priest guiding the expedition, Chuma himself, betrayed the group. The tribesmen intended to use the blood of the expedition members to restore their queen to health. Minerva and one other member of the expedition escaped. Just as the ceremony to restore the queen was reaching its climax, the village was attacked by mercenaries who slaughtered the tribesmen. Minerva saved Chuma by pushing him into the temple as the entrance was collapsing.
