Synopsis:
Adam is Zeta-Beamed to Rann just in time to see Alanna spirited away by a strange glow. Adam himself is soon taken by the same glow. A recently erected statue of Adam then comes to life proclaiming itself the new ruler of Rann. The statue is inhabited by Ikhar the Undying, a conqueror that can inhabit any mineral.
Adam awakens in a spaceship light-years from Rann. He and Alanna were turned to stone when spirited away, but the Zeta-Beam caused the effect to wear off Adam. He returns to Earth when the beam wears off, taking the petrified Alanna with him.
When he catches the next Zeta-Beam to Rann, he has a plan to defeat Ikhar. After a wild chase, Ikhar becomes trapped in Adam’s ray-gun which he created from living coral, not metal. Adam bargains with Ikhar to free Alanna. Ikhar is exiled from Rann, Alanna is restored, and Adam again hailed as champion of Rann.
