Synopsis:
While being interviewed by Clark Kent, Dr. Cathcart, a scientist, has a heart attack. Before dying he passes on the secret to a defense formula on which he was working. Clark delivers the formula to the government, but they decide he is too vulnerable and place him in protective custody.
With federal agents guarding him around the clock, Clark is unable to respond to emergencies as Superman. On a couple of occasions he is able to trick his guards in order to make a secret rescue. However, this plan backfires when he slips his guard and is caught by foreign agents.
The enemy spies take Clark back to their country and question him about the formula. Clark tricks them using a phony formula which he uses to escape. When he returns home, he is branded a traitor because the government doesn't believe he could have escaped without revealing the formula. Only when Cathcart's formula is tested and found to be useless is Clark cleared of treason.
