Comments:
Kid Psycho and the Legion of Super-Heroes are shown in a flashback which occurs one year before this story begins. Several Legionnaires appear in the flashback including Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad, Cosmic Boy, and Chameleon Boy. At least two other Legionnaires are present, but not clearly depicted. Brainiac 5 and Sun Boy are the likely candidate based on their presence later in the story.

Kid Psycho joins the Legion Reserve in this story.

Synopsis:
Superboy is approached by a boy exhibiting the ability to project an invisible force-field with his mind. The boy is Kid Psycho, the last survivor of his home planet upon which his advanced mental capabilities represented a powerful mutation. Kid Psycho applied for membership in the Legion of Super-Heroes, but was rejected. Now, one year later, he wants to try again with Superboy's help. The two heroes visit the Legion where Saturn Girl explains the reason for rejected Kid Psycho. Doctors have determined that use of his powers result in a shortening of his lifespan. Unwilling to lead Kid Psycho to his own death, the Legion rejects him again. Kid Psycho still volunteers to help in case of dire emergencies and becomes a member of the Legion Reserve.
