Synopsis:
The Forever People materialize in an abandoned town populated only by sentries. The sentries attack them, but Big Bear overpowers them. The owner of the town then appears on a monitor and order them to obey. They are forced to do so. The owner is Billion-Dollar Bates, and he possesses the Anti-Life Equation.
The Forever People are taken captive and made to watch a ritual performed by members of the Sect, a strange underground race who are working with Bates. During the ritual, Bates is rendered unconscious. The Sect members have been replaced by Darkseid and DeSaad who want to take the Anti-Life Equation from Bates.
The Forever People rescue Bates. Beautiful Dreamer had used an illusion to feign their captivity. However, Bates is shot and killed by one of his own sentries. His death denies Darkseid of his prize. Darkseid teleports the Forever People away.
