This story continues in part in the seventh story of Action Comics #14.

Synopsis:
Zatara receives a request for help from Fred Hodges in the Carolinas. Zatara passes through the swamps and rescues Fred's sister Elanor from a witch and her son. Neither Fred nor Elanor will tell Zatara why the witch kidnapped her. Zatara eventually discovers that Fred's uncle Karl hired them to scare the siblings into selling their land to him. Zatara saves Elanor again from the witch's hex. Then the witch, her son, and Karl meet their untimely ends in the swamp.
