The Doll's House Part 1
This story introduces two new members of the Endless. Desire and Despair. The sigils of the as yet unrevealed Endless, Destiny and Delirium are shown. Destruction is referred to as the Prodigal, rather than by name. His sigil is missing from Desire's gallery.
Desire reveals that it was their machinations that caused the tragic love affair between Dream and Nada.
Synopsis:
Desire contacts their sister Despair to tell her of a new plot against their brother Dream involving a dream vortex.
Meanwhile, Miranda Walker and her daughter Rose arrive in England where they've been invited for a vacation. The women are escorted to the manor of their benefactor Unity Kinkaid, one of the victims of the sleepy sickness. During the trip, Rose has several strange dreams including one in which she observes Lucien giving a census report to Morpheus in his castle.
When Unity meets Miranda and Rose she reveals that she is Miranda's birth mother. While a victim of the sleepy sickness, she was raped and the child was put up for adoption. While Miranda and Unity talk, Rose has a meeting with the three Fates which confuses her, but foretells the future.
Elsewhere, following the census, four major dreams are reported missing: Fiddler's Green, Brute and Glob, and the Corinthian. The last of which is shown to be operating in Amarillo, Texas where he has a young man bound and gagged.
