Synopsis:
After returning from patrol in the driving rain, Gunner petitions his captain to stay at camp. Sarge wants to return to the jungle for another patrol. The captain agrees to split up Gunner and Sarge. However, both men want to keep Pooch. When a decision can't be agreed upon, Pooch is forced to choose between his masters. The dog will not decide, so the captain sends Pooch on patrol with Corporal Stanton instead.

Gunner worries about Pooch and follows them into the jungle. When Stanton falls into a snare trap, Gunner cuts him loose. Sarge, who has also followed, destroys the enemy sniper's nest before it can target his fellow marines.

Stanton and Pooch then continue on their patrol. Gunner and Sarge continue to follow, fighting the enemy along the way. When a grenade blast knocks them senseless, the soldier see a second grenade coming their way. Pooch pushes the grenade out of range and is wounded in the process. Gunner carries him back to camp. When he is healed, he rejoins Gunner and Sarge on patrol.
