Abner Pearson seeks help from Dr. McNider because he keeps falling over furniture. Pearson believes he is hallucinating and going insane. As Dr. Mid-Nite, McNider checks Pearson's home, but sees nothing unusual. However, he does rescue Abner's nephew from a pair of gamblers to whom he owes money.

Now believing himself to be insane, Abner also suspects that he may have been responsible for the murder of his brother Charley. Dr. Mid-Nite checks the murder weapon, a red axe, but finds no fingerprints. When Dr. Mid-Nite sees Abner trip over a red chair, he realizes that the man is color blind and cannot see red objects. He is cleared of the murder suspicion. Ralph is the real culprit as he tried to have his uncle declared insane to gain his inheritance.
