The events in this story depict what would happen if Krypton had not exploded, and Kal-El grew up on his native planet.
Synopsis:
Superman uses a super-computer to determine what his life would have been like if Krypton had not exploded. The computer predicts that baby Kal-El was returned to Earth after Jor-El realized Krypton would not be destroyed. He would have grown up as a normal Kryptonian child, and his parents would have had another child, Zal-El.
However, as Kal reaches adulthood, his career is that of a space patrol dispatcher. His teacher, Xan-Du, is involved in an accident which gives him super powers along with Kal’s dog Krypto. Xan-Du becomes Krypton’s first super-hero, Futuro, and Kal’s life mirrors that of Jimmy Olsen as the hero’s pal.
Kal’s family is killed in a tragic accident, so his life as an orphan is duplicated. Lois Lane also visits Krypton and falls in love with Futuro. Futuro decides to move to Earth and marry Lois, so he gives Kal super powers with the same machine that gave Xan-Du his powers. Kal becomes Superman on Krypton.
