Synopsis:
Lois Lane travels to Northville to cover a story about a crashed meteor. She brings along a television crew. Superman is stopping a flood elsewhere, but he sees the television broadcast which shows robots destroying Northville. Superman reaches Northville only to find the city intact and undamaged. Confused, he tracks the television signal to Lois's location. Lois and the crew have pertrated a hoax under threat from Luthor.

Luthor has staged the robot hoax in order to extort diamonds from Metropolis. Superman can't stop him for fear of hurting Lois. Superman is forced to fake a battle with the robots which Luthor broadcasts on television. This scares viewers and convinces them to willingly turn over their diamonds to the robots. Superman is able to thwart the scheme once he rescues Lois. He then takes control of one of the robots and destroys the others with it. Then he captures Luthor.
