Synopsis:
Chessmaster turned criminal Check and his gang are caught by Superman. When Lois accidentally puts herself in danger, Superman is forced to save her letting the criminals go free. Check decides to use Lois to his advantage when he meets unemployed actress Brenda Manning who is a double for Lois Lane.

Check captures the real Lois, then tricks Brenda into replacing her. When Check commits a crime, Brenda acting as Lois distracts Superman. When Brenda objects to the criminal enterprise, Check threatens to kill her family. Superman catches on to Check's plan and advises Brenda to stay out of the way.

The real Lois returns and forces Superman to rescue her. Superman locks Lois in a cage until he finally apprehends Check. Lois is angry at being blamed for the action of her double. Back at the Daily Planet Lois and Brenda meet for the first time. They plot a joke on Clark Kent, but it is spoiled when Clark correctly guesses which girl is the real Lois.
