Slam and Shorty are given an assignment to protect a valuable gem from thieves. When the thieves are unable to get the jewel from Bradley, they kidnap the owner. Slam is then lured into a trap, but he turns the tables on the thieves. He protects the gem and rescues the owner.

The gem's owner then reveals that the jewel is a fake, and Slam was set up as part of an elaborate test. The man explains that he is an agent of the French government and wants to hire Bradley to guard a jewel shipment oversees. Slam and Shorty then fly to France.

When the detectives arrive, they are captured by the Apache Gang. Then disguised as Bradley, the thieves steal some jewels. Slam escapes, but he is now wanted by the authorities. Slam and Shorty track down and apprehend the crooks. The jewels are recovered, and Slam's name is cleared.
