Synopsis:
Hal Jordan is summoned to Oa. The summons asks him to bring his friend Chip. When Hal arrives, he finds a single Guardian of the Universe and a Zamaron. The Guardian orders him to kill Priest, the former Green Lantern. When Hal refuses, the Guardian threatens the life of Chip and holds him hostage.
Green Lantern locates Priest who agrees with the Guardian and asks Hal to kill him. Hal still refuses. Before the situation can be resolved Hal is attacked by a robot Seeker. Two alien leaders who were forced into a treaty by Green Lantern have sent the robot to kill GL. Each time Hal destroys the robot, it rebuilds and learns from its mistakes. The robot destroys anything which gets in its path.
Hal lures the robot to the world of its creator, Janel. Another Seeker is sent after Green Lantern, but the first one destroys it. Then the Seeker destroys its own creator while continuing on its mission. Hal finally defeats the robot by removing his ring. With no Green Lantern to fight, the robot shuts down. Hal then throws the robot into a black hole.
Green Lantern then returns to his original dilemma. He brings Priest to Oa and tells the Guardian to do his own dirty work. His refusal to obey could cost Chip his life, but instead, Priest reveals that the Guardian and Oa itself were an illusion. He was merely testing Hal. Priest then takes Hal to the real Oa, where he remains. Chip is still upset that Hal was willingly to sacrifice his life even if it was for the greater good.
