Comments:
This story is presented as Bonus Book #1, the first in a program designed to showcase the work of promising newcomers.
Synopsis:
After the death of his friend, rock star Rondo Harris, Jimmy Olsen goes to Florida to investigate New Aphelionia the home of the Brethren of Gallus, a group to whom Harris willed all his money. Jimmy discovers a cult run by Putnam Tane who is hypnotizing and brainwashing its members.
Jimmy and Nina Demostedes, the daughter of Tane's dead partner, are both caught. Jimmy uses his signal watch, but Superman doesn't respond. He still manages to escape in a stolen plane piloted by astronaut Colonel Mahoney, who is one of Tane's other victims. Once in the air Jimmy's boosts the power of his signal watch, and Superman comes to the rescue. However, Mahoney receives credit for exposing Tane's operation.
