Synopsis:
Green Lantern tells his friend, Pieface, of his latest adventure. He was sent by the Guardians to save the humans in a neighboring system from a group of attacking sub-humans. During his mission his power beam strangely missed one target. He tries to think of what could have caused the problem, when Pieface interrupts. GL tells Pieface to hold on for a moment and inadvertantly paralyzes Pieface with his ring. He is unable to remove Pieface from the trance, and he quickly discovers everyone in the path of the beam is paralyzed, including Carol Ferris, who was in the next room.
Believing his ring to be cursed, Green Lantern removes it and throws in away in disgust. Sinestro appears out of nowhere and takes the ring. GL is taken to the planet Qward where he becomes Sinestro’s target in another bid to win a popularity contest. Sinestro explains that during their last battle, he implanted a hypnotic suggestion in GL’s mind to free him from his imprisonment. The beam from GL’s ring that went astray on Kyrba was really sent to free Sinestro.
Sinestro plans to imprison Hal in a cube of amber, but before he can act on his plan, GL wills his ring back to his finger. Suspecting a trap all along, Green Lantern actually threw away a duplicate ring. The real power ring remained hidden until needed. With his ring returned, Green Lantern mops up his foes and imprisons Sinestro in the cube of amber. When he returns to Earth, he removes the paralysis from his friends and shows Pieface his captured foe.
