Synopsis:
Millions of years ago, an alien vessel stopped on Earth an dropped off a dormant spore. The land where they left the spore eventually became Antarctica. Superman has come to Antarctica to bury the Eradicator. While there he hears a noise. When he investigates he finds the remains of an automated research station and a tunnel.
Superman enters the tunnel and encounters the spore which has grown into a giant creature. Superman battles the monster which eventually pulls him inside of itself. Superman breaks out of the creature's digestive chamber, then uses his heat vision. This causes the creature to explode. Superman then meets with the research team nearby who speculate that the digestive fluids contained methane which triggered the explosion when heat was applied.
Superman departs without learning that the Eradicator's hiding place has been disturbed.
