Year III Chapter Four

This story is continued from Batman #438.

Synopsis:
Batman and Nightwing stand outside a prison and are witness to the execution of Anthony Zucco. Dick thinks Bruce knew that this would happen, but Batman denies it. The death of Zucco results in a gang war as various mobsters search for Zucco's secret ledger which detailed all their crimes. Zucco had used the ledger to blackmail them.

Batman puts a stop to the gang war, then begins his own search for the ledger. Nightwing finds it first, but Taft, the member of the parole board who got Zucco released follows him. Taft tries to kill Nightwing and take the ledger which shows that he bribed a judge. In the struggle with Nightwing, Taft falls to his death, and the ledger is destroyed. Batman is impressed that Nightwing solved the case before he did. After the caper is settled, Dick visits the graves of his parents.
