Comments:
This story is continued from Doom Patrol #15.

Synopsis:
The Doom Patrol has been defeated by General Immortus. The Chief makes a deal with Immortus to release the team in exchange for his help in extending the General's life. The Chief is then taken to a rest home in Maryland which serves as the covert base of Immortus.

The Doom Patrol regroups with the help of Checkmate who has been investigating Immortus and is secretly working with the Chief. Robotman confronts Arani about her claims to be the Caulder's wife. These claims were denied by the Chief. Aided by Checkmate, the Doom Patrol locates and rescues Caulder. They capture Immortus and the Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man in the process.
