Synopsis:
The Riddler is released from prison. Commissioner Gordon urges him to go straight. He boards a bus, where he meets Sphinx, an ex-stripper turned criminal. They share stories, then decide to rob the bus passengers.

Before the crooks can make their move, the bus stops to pick up the Question and Tot. Their car broke down on the way out of Hub City. Then Sphinx pulls out a gun and shoots a passenger. The rest of the passengers are told to answer a riddle. If they successfully answer it, they will be set free. One man who doesn't is shot.

The Question then confronts the criminals. He poses more philosophical riddles, rather than the juvenile puns of the Riddler. His talking distracts the crooks and allows him to get close. He disarms Sphinx. She runs and falls to her death in a frozen river. The Question then decides if he should turn the Riddler over to the police.
