Comments:
This story recounts the origin of Dolphin in flashback. The Earth-1 version of Dolphin's meeting with Chris Landau was told in Showcase #79.

Synopsis:
Former Navy diver Chris Landau spent most of his life searching for the woman named Dolphin after briefly meeting her decades earlier. He finally finds the girl working as a performer at Oceanword in Florida. Chris meets Dr. Meredith Riley. They exchange stories of their encounters with Dolphin.

Chris was a Navy man and found Dolphin during a salvage operation decades earlier. After she disappeared, he told his story to two men with strange tattoos. He later awoke after bring drugged with a similar tattoo and an obsession to find Dolphin.

Meredith explains that she met Dolphin during an expedition studying whales and dolphins. Dolphin saved a school of dolphins from a shark. She was injured, so Meredith helped the girl recover. Meredith taught Dolphin sign language and was able to learn more about her past. She was taken by aliens as a child and used as an experiment. She eventually escaped. The alien changes are the source of her powers and delay the aging process.

After the exchange of stories, Chris realizes that the men who drugged him were alien agents looking for their escaped experiment. His obsession is now gone, and he is able to move on with his life.
