Synopsis:
While Superman is away on a space mission, the authorities are forced to turn to master criminal Lex Luthor to help in an emergency. Luthor helps them, but he uses the opportunity to escape. He returns to a hide-out in Metropolis which serves as his version of Superman’s Fortress of Solitude.
From his base, Luthor plots revenge against Superman. He designs a way to rob Fort Knox. Superman arrives to stop his foe, but is turned away by a Kryptonite machine made by Luthor. Luthor escapes successfully, but is angered when he learns that it was only a Superman robot that he defeated. Luthor even returns the gold because he does not want to be reminded of his failure.
